NEVER HANG YOUR HAT WHERE YOUR HAND CAN’T REACH

A friend recently shared with me a book of African proverbs.  One of the proverbs – “Never Hang Your Hat Where Your Hand Can’t Reach” particularly moved me to write this blog.

So often we reach for things that are beyond our means or that are not in our best interest and we call this stepping out on faith.

We should dream our dreams and continue to reach for the stars but we should also remember that all things will come “in due time” as my grandmother always said. And just what does “in due time” mean? It simply means that all things must be done in order, junctural (at a given time and juncture), in sequence, and as a friend so aptly put it — according to the process. And we so often forget that we do not control the process — the process is controlled by God. While we reach and extend our faith we must also listen to the voice of the Master who will guide us in our choices and desires and the direction we should take in life’s continuously changing journey.

Romans 10:17 says  “Then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”.
