Baby Boomers – They have rocked the world! Did you know that Michael Jackson, Denzel Washington, Elton John, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, Steven Spielberg, Spike Lee and Bill Gates are all Baby Boomers? — All were born between 1946-1964 — two phenomenal post war generations!
In 2011 millions of Boomers hit the age of 65 and moved into a whole new world order – RETIREMENT. But retirement has taken on a whole new image because BOOMERS have always had a very different mind-set. Age is just a number in Boomerville. As I’ve moved to Boomerville I am embracing this new world order and take such pleasure in watching my fellow Boomers just continue rocking the world. The words from fellow Boomer Michael Jackson’s song – “You Rock My World” talks about a love he is pursuing, but his words could also apply to the land of Boomerville where we continue to pursue our dreams to ‘Rock Our World’:
In time I knew that love would bring
This is happiness to me
I tried to keep my sanity
I waited patiently
Who’d think that I
Have finally found the ‘perfect love’
I searched for all my life
My life is so complete…
In Boomerville we will never be too tired to dance or too old to just live! That ‘perfect love’ is FREEDOM — freedom to dream, freedom to create, freedom to travel and experience new worlds, freedom to slow down to a turtle’s pace if we wish or step it up to warp speed just to feel the thrill of it. It’s about totally owning who we really are in the land of Boomerville. Clocks can be obsolete in this land unless we choose to use them. This freedom gives us time to give to others — time, attention, quality of life. In Boomerville I have found my peace…
It is sad that most of us have to wait so long for such wonderful freedom but whenever you get there just relish every moment and enjoy it to the fullest! Just spread your wings fellow Boomers and FLY!
Thanks oh-happily-retired-one!
I am so proud of you and the joy you find in life. Thanks for being such an amazing role model simply by living life on your own terms. You go Girl!
